I need some more caffeine. My body couldn't handle sleeping past eight o'clock, so I'm up now... gotta make it through the day without passing out on the couch.

YD and I went to evil Walmart for the Pooter book-- got there at about ten til midnight. I was really amazed at how many people do their shopping at midnight, until I saw the line that stretched almost all the way across the store (and this is a super Walmart, folks). Luckily, at 12:01, the line moved swiftly, and I got my copy. FYI: beneath the jacket (I can't read a book with the jacket on-- it always annoys me), the cover's a lovely purple color.

Ahead of me in the checkout lane was this teenage Walmart employee, very happy about getting her copy, and then two other people: a guy wearing a rainbow necklace and a short, stout woman. Both of them had copies, too, and they started discussing plot points from the older books, and filling in this girl on things she didn't remember. They were also discussing their own theories on Sirius, etc.

You know how some fans get, where they talk about whatever they're a fan of in a self-important, puffy, snooty way that leaves no room for argument from others, even if the others might be right? Well, the guy wasn't so bad, but this woman...

I was listening to her, and of course looking at her, and I started to think, "I know this lady..." And I stared-- did I work with her? Does she have a kid at Wharton? And after about five minutes, it clicked. I'm sure she's the track coach who sabotaged the 4x200 at one of YD's track meets. Even if she hadn't done that, she wouldn't be hard to forget, since she's friggin' loud.

YD has an open invitation this year to join track again. If that shit happens again, I'm going to lean over the fence and yell, "Dumbledore wouldn't do that, bitch!"

Hee. Yeah, right. But can you imagine?
